A new kind of virus Deltacron has characteristics of two other kinds of viruses namely Delta and omnicron varient could be really dangerous because it could attack lungs and spread quickly.
There is a new strain of Covid that is called Deltacron. This new strain has the potential to attack lungs like Delta and spread as easily as Omicron. As of now, there are no reported cases of this new strain in India.
The first incidence of ‘Deltacron’ was recorded in January, but the strain has now surfaced as new Covid variants XBC, XAY, and XAW, according to Fortune Well
According to a research published in Nature Reviews Immunology, the hybrid might be as lethal as the Delta version and have a record-breaking transmission rate equivalent to Omicron.
In recent study, XBB, a recombinant lineage between two Omicron sublineages, BJ.1 and BA.2.75, has emerged as the most prevalent. XBB and its sublineage XBB.1 (with added S:G252V) are mostly prevalent in Singapore and, more recently, Bangladesh, but they may also be found in Europe, North America, and Asia. Singapore is now experiencing an outbreak of illnesses.
When two or more viruses infect a cell at the same time, recombinant variations are formed. Co-infection is extremely unlikely, but it does happen. Such recombinant isolates can be detected through genomic monitoring.
